The Months of the Year In Spanish

Updated: Oct 17, 2019

Singing to and with your child helps develop their vocabulary and language skills. Finding catchy songs or tunes and implementing them in your daily routine will provide opportunities for little ones to internalize words and their meanings so they can later produce and use them. This post covers my favorite tune to practice and learn the months of the year in Spanish.

Have you heard the song "Palo Bonito"? This song was original written by composer Ricardo Rico and later was recorded by many more artists including Jonny Ventura and Chayanne -always as a merengue song.

We heard "Palo Bonito" as a children's version more recently through our Music Together classes, which was a version that incorporated the first 5 months of the year as part of its verses. I felt the song was catchy and easy to learn, so we created our own version that included all 12 months for our daily calendar routine.

Below is our version:

Palo, Palo, Palo

Palo Bonito, Palo eh

eh, eh, ah

Palo Bonito, Palo eh

Palo, Palo, Palo

Palo Bonito, Palo eh

eh, eh, ah

Palo Bonito, Palo eh

Enero, Febrero, Marzo

Abril, Mayo, y Junio

Son los seis meses

Primeros del año

Julio, Agosto, Septiembre

Octubre, Noviembre, Diciembre

Son los seis meses

Ultimos del año

Palo, Palo, Palo

Palo Bonito, Palo eh

eh, eh, ah

Palo Bonito, Palo eh

Palo, Palo, Palo

Palo Bonito, Palo eh

eh, eh, ah

Palo Bonito, Palo eh
