3.a Las Noticias: Literacy Activity
Materials Needed: Newspaper Template (K-2 and 3-6)
Print the Nene Bilingüe newspaper template. Have your child draw pictures that go with their news story or topic. Then, have them write their news story as if it were a newspaper article. Explain to them that news and information can be presented in a variety of forms: articles, video, etc.
3.b Hora Fija: Math Activity
Materials Needed: Map of the US, Markers
Find a map of the United States or world from the internet. Together research time zones. Help your child map out the different time zones and identify what time zone they live in. Start there and work your way across the map by following the pattern ( ie. hour ahead, hour back) Color code the timezones and help your child see how the hour changes depending on where you are in the world.
3.c Camara Ación : Art /Pretend Play Activity
Materials Needed: Recording Device and tools, Featured props
Lights, camera, action! Have your child plan out their first news broadcast featuring a topic or item of their choice. Have them introduce themselves and the topic. For some children, it may help to plan out what they will say in a script. Don’t forget to press record!
