Materials Needed: Squirt bottles, water, watercolor cakes, plastic inclined frame, cookie sheet or art platter, paper or flat canvas (optional)

Fill your squirt bottles with warm water. Take an inexpensive watercolor cake strip and remove the colors from the tray. Place a cake into each squirt bottle. Close and shake the bottles well until the water is tinted. This DIY water colors may not be saturated enough to show up on paper or canvas. Place the plastic inclined frame on a cookie sheet and attach a paper or flat canvas. Have fun squirting different colors onto the inclined surface and watch the colors drip onto the cookie sheet. Do the colors mix? Can you create a rainbow?

10 Pajaritos

Materials Needed: Song: “10 Pajaritos” by 123 Con Andres, crayons or markers, cut out shapes, 10 pajaritos

Create a house or building using cut-out shapes. Print out 10 little birds and color them using different colors. Name the colors as you color them in, or play a matching game by outlining each bird and having your child color them in with a matching color.

Sing the song as you take bird off the roof and counting as you go.

Colores de Noche

Materials Needed: Water color paints, paint brushes, water, cardstock paper, black washable paint

Create a night sky using blue and purple shades. First wet the entire paper so it is damp but not drenched. We used liquid water color paints, but you can also use water color cakes. Paint the entire paper using a swirl technique to allow for colors to blend well. Let dry. Choose what type of tree you’d like to paint. We chose a winter tree. Finally paint the truck and branches. Once dried you’ll have a beautiful night sky painting.
