3.a Las Vacas No Pueden Saltar
Materials Needed: Game Board, Markers, Pencil, Paperclip, Game pieces
Play a board game with a reading and movement components. Print and decorate your game board how you’d like. To make the spinner - hold a pencil at the center of the paper clip, when you flick it, the paper clip spins and lands on +-1 or +-2. Using any small manipulative as a game piece, take turns. Spin the spinner to see if you get to move forward or backward. Where you land, read the action word and act it out. Continue to take turns until everyone reaches the end of the path. Game is for 2 or more players. All action words are found in the book Las Vacas No Pueden Saltar.
3.b La Vaca Dice
Materials Needed: List
Play a version of Simon Says. Act out the instructions only when the leader says “La vaca dice…” Play a commutative or collaborative version. Either way, have fun acting out different animal noises. All the vocabulary is found in the book Las Vacas No Pueden Graznar.
3.c La Vaca
Materials Needed: White Paper Plate, Large Popsicle Stick, Black Paint, Googly Eyes, Glue, Construction Paper: Brown, White, Pink
Create a cow mask. Use it while you play the games or while you read the books. Cut out ears using white and brown paper. Cut out a large oval using pink paper for the snout. Paint black spots randomly on the back of the white paper plate. After the paint dries, glue the construction paper pieces and googly eyes. Paint or draw the nostrils on the snout and a smile. Glue the popsicle stick on the back to hold it up to your face.
